Life Lately

Blogger fail. The first week in December was my last post? I guess life has been busy lately and I have a feeling I don't even know what busy is until baby #2 makes his or her arrival in seven weeks.

Yes that's right. Seven weeks.

Less than 50 days.

I can't even.

My husband and I aren't even the slightest prepared and I'm seriously starting to panic. We have our Halo bassinet and ummm a pack and play. And umm a few gender neutral swaddle blankets have been ordered.  Somehow this is making me sound like I need to run out to Babies-r-Us right now!

This week it's my goal to make some serious lists -- items we still need to purchase, household jobs that need to get done started -- like moving Elizabeth into her big girl room (currently the playroom), painting part of the nursery, and like fifteen billion other things, and figuring out how much time I'm taking off of work next school year (at first my husband and I decided I would take the whole year off but I found out that my current boss is willing to basically hold my position for me as long as I'd like), so now we are considering me going back in January. Talk about some mega decision making that has to occur soon.

Ahh I feel like I need to go make those lists like right now but I'm currently watching Final Destination (guess my husband wasn't too fond of my binge-watching of The Kardashians this afternoon. I guess I'll have a few episodes to watch this week while he's out of town for business trips!

Back to the pregnancy topic -- I have been feeling fantastic -- a few coworkers and I are utterly obsessed with challenging each other in steps and last week was insane with how much physical movement I got. As of Saturday evening, my total steps for the week were 82,732 and I walked 32.36  miles. Umm, that's crazy. For the most part it was actually easy until the Braxton Hicks started kicking in, along with some lower back pain. After I went grocery shopping Sunday, I even started feeling some period-like cramps and my red flag went up and I took it easy the rest of the day. It just about killed my soul to not go to the gym or even attempt to hit a lot of movement, but my body was clearly sending signals for me to relax. I'm hoping to be back at the gym on Tuesday after work -- but first I want to call my OB and let them know what's going on since I had a little bit of a scare a few weeks ago, they told me to keep them posted on any increase in Braxton Hicks. My gut is still telling me that baby will be here early -- I'm thinking 38 weeks. But who really knows?!? Baby will come when he or she is ready to meet us! Honestly I'd like to go as close to 40 weeks as possible. I've done a ton of research on preterm babies and some of my findings just scare me way too much to wish an early arrival of this baby.

That baby bump makes me smile!

Hopefully I'll be back this week with another post. I have a few recipes I want to share and maybe I'll have an update on her progress on all of my lists! Have a lovely week my friends!

  1. Wow! You walked 32 miles last week! I'm so impressed. I hope you enjoy the last of your pregnancy!

  2. I had myself a big long well-detailed to-do list divided into weeks for the final 6 weeks of my pregnancy, and then little mister came 2.5 weeks early and we were NOT ready! Best of luck to you!

  3. Wow you're getting close! All the best to you! It can be quite overwhelming for sure when a new baby is on the way! You'll get through it!

  4. I was like that with my first. You don't need to much the first couple a weeks :) So close to the end it will be here before you know it!

  5. Trust those gut instincts! I knew my second was going to be early right from the moment the pregnancy test dried! I was right!

  6. That's a ton of walking! Good for you! It's also good that you're listening to your body and checking in with your OB. My twins were extremely premature, so as close to 40 weeks as possible is awesome.

  7. You can do it! I think everyone is stressed and nervous, but you know what, number two was easier for me–simply because I knew what to expect. You know how to maneuver and you know how to handle the hard bits. I'm so excited for you and you will do great! Baby #2–congrats :)

  8. Aw, congrats on baby number two, that is so awesome!
