Weekend Recap

I love the weekend! This past weekend was so much fun - I'm now completely longing for summer vacation! On Saturday, Elizabeth experienced her first trip to the park (read about our adventure here). She then gave mama and dada a real treat by taking TWO naps. YES, I said that right - TWO naps! At one point, I looked at my husband with disbelief and said "this will never happen again, haha).
Saturday evening we loaded up the car and headed over to my brother's house for dinner.  We had a blast! Unfortunately, JB is in that "stranger danger" phase (no, Matty's not a stranger, but we haven't seen him in a few weeks) and she instantly did the sad face when he tried to hold her. Sigh. This is the one baby phase that breaks my heart. We all remember when my niece Ava was in this phase, so he took no offense to it. By the end of the night, she had warmed up to him and was an absolutely hoot to watch crawling and climbing up their couch!

He made a delicious dinner - I'll have to get the recipe but it was oven-baked "fried" chicken. I know it involved melted butter and panko bread crumbs. And some cayenne pepper. Anything spicy = win in my book! Becky (his girlfriend) also steamed up some green beans, had freshly baked cornbread, and oven baked beans (I gave him the family secret for making them extra tasty). It was a great evening with family!

Poor quality picture ... mama was hungry! Ha!

Sunday morning, which just so happened to be Mother's Day, I woke up feeling awful. So awful, I thought I had a fever. Thankfully my temperature was normal but I kinda just lounged around all morning. After two cups of coffee and a nice morning nap from our munchkin, we went outside for a little playtime on her new slide! Gosh, this girl loves being outside! It was hot so we took her helmet off and naturally she was very excited about this. I think she was more interested in wanting to play with the grass though.

We ended up keeping her helmet off while we went grocery shopping too because she had a strange red mark behind her ear that didn't fade. Man, this time without her helmet on is a tease! Can we puh-lease be done yet!?!?! Of course she loved being in the cart. I love the cute little cart cover we have. There's no way I'd ever let her in a cart without one of these. I'm such a weirdo about that. I can't even begin to think about the muck that's on those carts... germs, bacteria from leaking meat packages, ugh..., I seriously get sick to my stomach just thinking about it. Anyways... by the time we got to the freezer section, she wanted to be held, which was fine with me because the dada was there too so we just carried her and took turns pushing the cart.

After grocery shopping and getting the little one down for her second nap, I headed off to the nail salon for a pedicure and a mani. Normally I get gel nails but I wanted to let my nails breathe for a couple of weeks. The technician buffed my nails so well that it looks like I have clear polish on! Amazing!

For dinner tonight, my husband was in charge. He made my mother-in-law and I a delicious pesto-cream linguine with shrimp. So. Freaking. Good.

It was a perfect first Mother's Day. I'm so happy I was able to spend the day with my beautiful baby girl. Without her, I wouldn't be a mama!

I hope all of you mama's and mama's-to-be out there had a beautiful Mother's Day!

  10. Firstly, Happy Mothers day! I know it's late but every day is Mothers day when you're a Mum, right? Your daughter is a little princess! She looks so happy and cutesie and completely rockin' the 'cool kid at the park' look! She's so lucky to have such a caring mummy (that trolley cover thingy is not something I have seen over here in the UK although I am not a mummy so I have no reason to look haha - deffo looking for one of those when it's my turn - JUST because of your 'meat juices' comment, URGH) haha. Loving your nails by the way! NAIL ENVY! xx
