Summer Plans With a Baby

I am so looking forward to summer vacation. Not only do I get 2 months with NO work, I get to spend those two months taking care of our little sweet pea. Since summer is quickly approaching, I've been trying to brainstorm some fun summer activities for Elizabeth and I. Since we live in Florida, outdoor activities have to be limited. Babies + heat = not a good mix. Luckily, it's cool enough in the morning to do some fun things outside.

Within the next couple of weeks, I plan on checking out Gymboree and My Gym. I've heard wonderful things about both places, but before I decide, I want to go to both places. My Gym is offering a pretty awesome deal for teachers, so I'm leaning more towards that one, but I have to act quickly because the deadline to sign up in order to get the discount is this weekend. At My Gym, we would do the Tiny Tykes class, which is geared towards babies 7-13 months. At Gymboree, they have Play and Learn classes or a music class. If we choose Gymboree, I'm leaning more towards the Music class.

...Summer Activity 2...
Storytime at the library! I remember storytime at my community library growing up, so it's really important to me that we start this early with Elizabeth. We have a public library about five minutes from our house, so I'm very excited! They do baby story time on Tuesday mornings for about 20 minutes. I've heard great things about this from my mommy group, so I'm really looking forward to this! Another local library also offers a Baby, Parent, and Yoga class that I've been thinking about! I haven't heard much about this one, but I'm sure it's fun!

...Summer Activity 3...
Adventure Island! Since it's HOT here in summertime, I think a waterpark would be so much fun! I know it's a popular thing to go first thing in the morning, which would be a great way to start off our day! They offer a great Florida resident discount for a weekday pass for $49, and of course, Elizabeth would get in for free. I think this is something we will definitely do!

...Summer Activity 4...
Stroller Strides. I've heard a lot about this program and since I'm desperately trying to get back into shape, I'm really considering this. I found a deal on Activitytree for 5 classes for only $25. I just have to do a little bit more research to see if it's really worth it. I mean after all, I could do activities with our stroller outside at the park too and that would be free!

So, with all of these possibly activities, mama needs to get planning and signing up! I'm really looking forward to having a busy schedule this summer! It's all about baby and mama for the next two months, so I'm eager to get things planned!

What are your favorite summer activities to do with your little one!?!?!

  1. Hehehe these are some great ideas! I lived in Florida for 8+ years. Not sure where you are located, but I lived in Orlando and the area was splash pad capital of the world lol.... I would assume most of FL would be that way ;-) your princess would have a blast at those.

  13. Enjoying with a small baby is a different kind of experience. You'll have an unique kind of celebration in your life that will be cherished for a life time. Every activities you said is okay but doing adventure activities with babies is somewhat risky. It'll be a little problem for both. And story telling is a kind of ideas that I liked the most. Anyways, thanks for letting us know very unique ideas.
