Five on Friday

I'm not sure about you guys, but for me, this week FLEW by at lightning speed! And I love it! Ha! I'm currently typing this Five on Friday post as my little one is attempting a nap - and oh boy is it an epic fail! Nap time over here is quite the scene!!!

So, here's my Five on Friday for today! :)

Elizabeth FINALLY has a tooth that has popped through! Can I get an Amen and a Thank you Sweet Baby Jesus!?!?! :) She has legit been teething for MONTHS! But over the weekend, she had a non-stop runny nose and I knew something was up. She also had this annoying cough - but only at night. Kinda like she was choking on excess saliva. I prayed that a tooth would magically appear this week and Hallejuia it did! :) I felt something on Tuesday evening but she wouldn't let me peek in her mouth. But today, even though she wailed when my finger was in there - I had to see for sure! And sure enough, there is a tooth popping through! It actually looks like the tooth next to it is getting ready to come through too! I know most babies get their first tooth and it's just ONE, but since JB doesn't seem to ever play by the rules, two are popping though! :) I'm so happy though!

... I'm pausing for a moment because I think sweet little
JB has actually fallen sleep. Cue the choir!!!! ...

I have to be super mom this weekend and make a ton of baby food. Now that she's eating three meals of solids a day, she is flying through our stash in the freezer! I think she's ready for chicken, so I've been searching on Pinterest for a good first-chicken puree recipe! As I've said before, I absolutely love making her baby food. Not only is it much more cost effective, it's nice to actually SEE for myself what goes into her food. I'm all for buying organic jar baby food if we're in a pinch, but I prefer to make my own. Her daycare even provides baby food puree, but not only is it not organic, but it's not mama's homemade! :)

I have got to start packing up my classroom office. With only 5 weeks of school left after this week, that actually doesn't give me much time. I started to give away a few things this week to the newbie teachers - math resources that I don't use since I'm a reading resource teacher. I do have to take some pictures today so I can sell some stuff on the Hillsborough County Teacher yard sale on Facebook. Man, do those yard sales ROCK! In the fall I sold a ton of stuff and I was loving the extra stash of cash!

Last week I had mentioned that my stomach hasn't been feeling right. Well, it continued all through the weekend and this week. In fact, I woke up in the middle of the night on Monday and Tuesday almost in tears and wondering if I should go to the ER. Luckily the pain subsided and I didn't have to go in. On Wednesday, I went to see my doctor and it looks like I may have an ulcer. An ulcer? Me? Does this even happen to someone who is only 30?!?! I have to pretty much cut out any sort of acidic food, caffeine, peppermint, and a few other things. Yikes. She gave me some samples of Nexium and if that works, then I'm in the clear. If things don't resolve within two weeks, I have to go see the gastroenterologist. Good grief. #aintnobodygottimeforthis

Our little Houdini is back. JB wears a cranial band (helmet) and has been in it since mid-February. On Wednesday when I picked her up from daycare, the director told me that somehow, she was able to get her helmet off. Without using her hands. Just by wiggling her head. Say what!?!?! I always knew she was a little Houdini when she would escape from the swaddle as a newborn, but she's baaaaaack! Haha! We went to the orthotist Thursday afternoon and even she couldn't believe that Elizabeth did that! Neither one of us can figure out how it's even possible. But, indeed, the daycare said she did wiggle out of it! She is such a fierce and strong little baby, that's for sure!!!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend! My husband will most likely be out of town, so it'll just me us girls!

  1. It sounds like you have had a very busy week! Best of luck with the ulcer, those can be very painful from what I've heard.

  4. With my first born, I made a ton of baby food! And like you, I loved it! With my second I went with the baby led weaning method-I just didn't have the time to make the food. Plus it was interesting seeing the differences with the kids. Good luck with the ulcer-ouch! Have a wonderful weekend-I hope you get a chance to relax!

  6. I'm enjoying the imagery of your daughter wiggling out of her helmet. Amazing what they figure out, isn't it? Children make life full but good.

  8. Ugh, my kids always show signs of teething for MONTHS before a tooth appears. I get so frustrated with those moms who tell me that they had no idea their child was teething and a tooth just popped up one day!
