Five on Friday

It's Friday, which means it's time for Five on Friday!
I'm tired. I don't mean to complain - but I am. My husband has been on business trips since Tuesday and it's been the mama show all week. He actually arrived in Tampa yesterday afternoon but immediately had to fly out to Georgia. Sigh. And now he's already on the road to a pharmacy in South Carolina. I am praying that he comes home tonight. He was supposed to have the luxury of working from home today since it's Good Friday, but since he's on call this week, when a store comes up, he has to take it. Somehow I have a feeling that I won't be seeing him until Sunday evening. Double sigh.
My little JB either has a minor cold or allergies. Earlier this week, she was a sneezy little bunny and when she sneezed, all sorts of grossness came shooting out of her nose. It was disgusting. It seems to have gotten better - I don't think I had to suction her nose last night. It's weird because when I suction her nose, nothing comes out. But when she sneezes - stay clear!!! Ha! Since I'm not completely sold on the idea that it's just allergies, I'm going to cancel her appointment this morning to have her second flu shot. I'm not willing to risk her getting a shot if indeed she does have a cold. Back in October, she had her 2 month shots right after her first hospital stay and one of the pediatricians in her practice assured me she was okay to have vaccinations but now I'm wondering if they added fuel to her illness in November. I'm all for shots - but when my little one is possibly sick, it's not something I want to deal with.

Easter is on Sunday! I would like to go to church with Elizabeth, but I'm not sure how that's going to go. Easter Mass is always crowded and I'm not sure if I want her that close to that many people. If Shaun is home, I'll probably go to the early morning mass alone. On a typical Sunday, that's what we do - Shaun watches JB and I go to mass. My brother and his girlfriend are coming over late morning for brunch - I'm still not set on my menu - I keep changing my mind! What's your favorite Easter brunch dish that is easy-peasy?

Three pounds. That's what I lost this week. I'm not sure how. I'm still eating chocolate in mas quantities and I'm obviously not able to go to the gym since Shaun has been out of town all week. Surely I'm not complaining! I'm probably not going to reach my lose-10-pounds-by-my-birthday goal, but any loss is okay with me - especially when I haven't been watching what I've been eating at all. I really need to focus on eating healthier!

Laundry, laundry, laundry. I confess that the clothes that are in the dryer have been there since early this week. And the clothes in the washing machine have been in there since Wednesday. I actually just added a few more clothes to the washing machine and just rewashed since the clothes had been sitting there wet for two days. I'm not lazy - I just haven't had the time. Even when I left work and came home before picking JB up from daycare to do some things around the house - somehow I left out catching up on laundry. Will I ever be caught up on laundry again?

I hope you all have a great weekend! Check back tomorrow when I share what will be in Elizabeth's first Easter basket!

  1. I have those kind of weeks, too; I think we all do at times! My husband works from a home office, and travels some, but quite often is just buried in work at home. Our kids are teens and older now and I'm thankful that I've taught each of them laundry, cooking, and other skills--they are so much help at home now! I hope your Easter works out beautifully for you and your family! Diane from

  2. Sounds like you've had quite a week, good and busy. I don't like laundry either, yuck. I actually just did a post about an easter menu, you could check it out if you'd like...
Hope you have a good easter :)

  3. I hope JB gets better! I know what it's like to have severe allergies (if that's what it ends up being). No fun!

    Happy Easter!

  4. Orange rolls are something my mama always made at Ester! Perfect for bunch.

  5. Happy Easter to you! And congratulations on losing 3 pounds! Sometimes I feel like the weeks I lose more weight are the ones when I'm not really trying as hard. I'm sure there's no science to it, but I'll take it!

  6. Congrats on the loss! I feel ya about the laundry - sometimes I'll leave mine sitting in the dryer for days!

  7. I also have clothes in the dryer that have been there since last weekend. That is my biggest downfall when it comes to cleaning, because you can't see the mess once the clothes are in the washer/dryer! :)

  8. The answer is nope. Laundry is never done. I can't tell you how bummed I get when I just finished all of the laundry and put all of it away, walk back into my bedroom and see a piece of clothing my husband has tossed in the dirty hamper. Not even done for 5 seconds!!

  9. I constantly wonder how people do laundry for a family. I can barely keep on top of my own.

  10. What a busy busy week! I'm hoping it's not as bad for you now :)
