Five on Friday

Not only is it finally Friday, but spring break is finally here!!! If you're a teacher, you know the feeling when spring break takes what seems like an eternity to get here - I feel like all my teacher friends and I have been counting down for weeks. Oh wait, we have! LOL! I'm looking forward to the upcoming week off. I have lots of things planned - spending time with JB and relaxing are at the top of my list for sure!
Since it's Friday, it's time for Five on Friday!
I hate immunizations. No wait, let me rephrase that. I hate the side effects that Elizabeth gets because of immunizations. This week, she had her 6-month well visit, which included a round of shots, including the flu shot. NEVER AGAIN. Of course, getting her vaccinated is an absolute necessity. However, next time, we will be splitting them up over two doctors visits. I'm not sure the time inbetween appointments, but I think it's going to be well worth it.  She had the shots late Monday afternoon and had a fever Monday night and all day Tuesday. It was awful. But luckily, for the most part, she acted completely fine. She wasn't overly fussy, didn't refuse to eat, and did take some good naps on Tuesday. As I said earlier this week, 6 month shots can go suck on a lemon. End rant.
Spring Summer weather is here. It has been gorgeous all week. Lows in the mid-60s and highs in the mid to upper 80s. Absolutely perfect! I was able to wear skirts and dresses to work all week which makes me a very, very happy girl! It looks like this wonderful weather is here to stay, so next week should be a fantastic week for spring break - I want to take some walks outside with JB!
Hello lovely spring weather!

Operation finish guest-bedroom is now in full effect.  My parents are coming down to visit in April, so we have a little over a month to get the room ready. Realistically, I'd like to paint the room (as in I, I mean my husband...) but that's just not going to happen. However, I can finish organizing the office part of it so we can move the furniture where it needs to be. This weekend my husband and I need to sit down and figure out a game plan. Game plans are important these days since he's out of town for almost half the month! We have to take advantage of the days that he's here!

We started recycling. I know. It's 2015 and we should been recycling for a while now. To be honest, when we moved here in December 2013, I called the Waste Management Department and asked for a recycling bin. We have the small ones, but our neighborhood uses the garbage-can style ones only - so we had no way of putting the recycled items out to the curb for pickup. Over the holidays, I had my husband call the department again and they finally sent one. My husband washed the smaller recycle bin and put it on our back lanai so that we can just fill that up until it gets full. Coming from a state where recycling is mandatory, I always felt awful for throwing everything in the trash. Now my green thumb is roaring to go! :) I enjoy rinsing out the containers and tossing them into the little bin. This weekend my husband will have to take the bin to the actual recycle garbage-can because it's completely full! Go us!

Pinterest do-over. I'm thinking of deleting my Pinterest boards and starting fresh. During the Pinterest-craze a few years ago, I got pin-happy and finding anything on my board is nearly impossible. It's actually overwhelming. Plus I don't need a lot of things pinned anymore - recipes that I know I'm not going to make, home-improvement projects that I know we can't afford, etc. Perhaps over spring break I'll organize my Pinterest boards so I'll actually start using them. Anyone else get pin-happy and NEVER do any of it? I know you're out there!

Well, that's my Five on Friday. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and if you're a teacher and are on spring break - enjoy the time off!!!
